New Bushing Replacement Kit For 964 Spring Plates

Santa Clara, CA (November 12, 2013) – Elephant Racing has announced availability of replacement spring plate bushings for Porsche 964 series cars, built between 1990 and 1994. 964 spring plate bushings are becoming an increasingly common point of failure due to age. Until now, bushing replacements have not been available and the typical solution for 964 owners wanting to renew was to purchase a new set of spring plates. Elephant Racing’s spring plate bushing kit replaces the worn bushings while retaining the original spring plates, thus drastically reducing the cost of repairs.
According to Chuck Moreland, President of Elephant Racing, “Customers kept asking us for a way to replace the bushings without having to buy new spring plates. This new product lets 964 owners rebuild existing spring plates cost effectively”.
Elephant Racing modeled the spring plate bushings after the original factory design, featuring a monoball cartridge enveloped in an elastomeric layer to reduce noise and vibration. The monoball cartridge is maintenance free and weather-sealed to prevent road contaminants and moisture from entering the bearing.
The elastomeric layer is slightly harder than that found in the factory original parts. Elephant Racing says this provides better performance by reducing deflection under load while still maintaining noise and vibration insulation characteristics similar to the original rubber.
